A Pakistani man named Muhammad Ahmar from Bahawalpur fell in love with an Indian girl from Mumbai on social media and reached India. The young man arrived in India at the invitation of the girl. He claimed that he was forced to take illegal action after his visa application was rejected. According to the Indian official, Ahmar was unaware that Rajasthan and Mumbai were 1,400 km apart.

First Islamabad-Istanbul train reaches Turkey after nearly 10 years

The first freight train between Islamabad-Istanbul via Tehran reaches Ankara after about a decade of pause, completing a 17-day journey in 13 days. The second train bound for Turkey is already in operation. The first train from Islamabad carrying goods (mostly pink salt) reached Ankara on Monday evening. The train carried eight wagons weighing 150 tonnes of pink salt.

SC rejects govt’s petition against demolition of Madina Mosque in Karachi

The Supreme Court (SC) rejected on Monday the government’s request to stop the demolition of Madina Mosque in Karachi. The country’s top court heard a case involving the demolition of encroachments in the city. Apex bench court heard an appeal by the attorney general who asked the court to reconsider the order to demolish Madina Mosque on Tariq Road.

Italian national TV to air documentary on Pakistan’s famous tourist destinations

The Italian national TV will air a documentary series about famous tourist destinations in Pakistan. The news was announced on Twitter by the ambassador of Pakistan to Italy. The documentary will be broadcast in three segments on Rai 1, the Italian state television channel. The first and second parts have already been broadcast on 28th and 30th December.

Punjab government launches financial aid for transgenders

Punjab’s government has launched a comprehensive monthly financial aid program for transgenders people named the ‘Masawaat Programme’. The program is coordinated by the Punjab Social Protection Authority throughout the province. There will be a financial support program for transgender adults over 40 years of age, providing them with Rs3,000 per month.

Reham Khan says two unidentified men attacked her vehicle and opened fire on it on Sunday night. In a tweet on her official Twitter account, Reham Khan said that her car was held at gunpoint after she returned from a wedding Sunday night. Taking a swipe at her ex-husband over the attack, Reham claimed that under PTI rule, Pakistan is a country of ‘cowards, thugs, and the greedy’.

Professor Ghulam Hussain, Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, has been included in Stanford University’s Top 2% Scientists list. The list represents the most cited 2% of scientists in different fields. The Scopus ranking, regarded as the most prestigious worldwide, is based on the bibliometric data contained in the database of more than 8 million scientists who are currently active worldwide. 

Pakistan starts fuel loading in Chinese-assisted Nuclear power plant in Karachi

The Pakistan Nuclear Regulatory Authority (PNRA) has approved the loading of nuclear fuel at Pakistan’s second 1,100-megawatt nuclear power plant in Karachi. The important milestone came at the completion of three decades of successful nuclear cooperation between Pakistan and China. A celebration marked the cooperation between the two countries and the loading of K-3 fuel.
