Pakistan starts fuel loading in Chinese-assisted Nuclear power plant in Karachi

The Pakistan Nuclear Regulatory Authority (PNRA) has approved the loading of nuclear fuel at Pakistan’s second 1,100-megawatt nuclear power plant in Karachi. The important milestone came at the completion of three decades of successful nuclear cooperation between Pakistan and China. A celebration marked the cooperation between the two countries and the loading of K-3 fuel.

Karachi Nuclear Power Plant Unit-3, known commonly as K-3, is getting ready to be commissioned. By the end of March 2022, it will be operational. The nuclear power share in the mix of energy will grow to 10 percent.
