The distressing videos of the abandoned bodies on the roof of the Nishtar Hospital – a teaching hospital of Nishtar Medical University – have also surfaced. Following the discovery of unclaimed bodies, the hospital administration swung into action and launched an inquiry.
In a strange incident, pictures of dacoits who looted a mobile phone in Karachi have gone viral on the internet. According to the details, the mobile phone was snatched in Karachi, however, those who did it took it with them to Qatar. They took videos and pictures of their flight and at the airport, which got uploaded to the actual owner’s Google Photos.
A major power breakdown took place on Thursday — amounting to 8,000 megawatts, according to the energy minister — depriving large swathes of southern Pakistan, including financial capital Karachi, of electricity. The Ministry of Energy attributed the breakdown to an “accidental fault“ in the transmission system. The power supply was interrupted after an extra high-tension line tripped, resulting in the closure of more than 30 grids.
Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) senator Azam Swati was taken into custody early Thursday morning by the Federal Investigation Agency’s (FIA) cybercrime unit for allegedly making ‘controversial tweets’ against state institutions, including army chief. The FIA arrested Swati for “using false information” through his official Twitter handle, “which is likely to incite any Officer, Soldier, Sailor, or Airman in the Army, Navy or Air Force to mutiny”.
The fire which erupted at Centaurus Mall in Islamabad was brought under control by the timely efforts of the rescue teams. The rescue teams safely pulled out the people trapped in the shopping mall from the back side of the building, after which the teams conducted a search operation inside the mall. The Islamabad High Court on Thursday set aside the conviction of PML-N leader Maryam Nawaz and her spouse Capt (retd) Mohammad Safdar handed down by an accountability court in the Avenfield reference four years ago and acquitted the couple.
