Shahrukh Jatoi acquitted by SC in 2012 Shahzeb murder case

In a major judgment that caps a decade of legal wrangling, the Supreme Court on Tuesday acquitted Shahrukh Jatoi and other accomplices in the 2012 Shahzeb murder case. A three-judge bench, headed by Justice Ijazul Ahsan, and comprising Justice Munib Akhtar and Justice Sayyed Mazahar Ali Akbar Naqvi, heard the case. Abandoned dead bodies found on the roof of Nishtar Hospital, Multan

Punjab Chief Minister’s (CM) Adviser Chaudhry Zaman Gujjar, on a routine visited, spotted unclaimed bodies left abandoned on the roof of Nishtar Hospital in Multan. The distressing videos of the abandoned bodies on the roof of the Nishtar Hospital – a teaching hospital of Nishtar Medical University – have also surfaced. Following the discovery of unclaimed bodies, the hospital administration swung into action and launched an inquiry.

Karachi faces power breakdown as extra high tension line trips due to ‘accidental fault’

A major power breakdown took place on Thursday — amounting to 8,000 megawatts, according to the energy minister — depriving large swathes of southern Pakistan, including financial capital Karachi, of electricity. The Ministry of Energy attributed the breakdown to an “accidental fault“ in the transmission system. PTI’s Azam Swati arrested by FIA for ‘controversial’ tweet against COAS

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) senator Azam Swati was taken into custody early Thursday morning by the Federal Investigation Agency’s (FIA) cybercrime unit for allegedly making ‘controversial tweets’ against state institutions, including army chief. The FIA arrested Swati for “using false information” through his official Twitter handle, “which is likely to incite any Officer, Soldier, Sailor, or Airman in the Army, Navy or Air Force to mutiny”.
