Developments in the Sara Inam murder case have been reported by the police on Sunday revealing that the accused, Shahnawaz Amir — son of senior journalist Ayaz Amir — tried tampering with the evidence. The police said they recovered six mobile phones from the crime scene, out of which five of them belonged to Shahnawaz, while one of them was registered in the victim’s name.

Miftah Ismail resigns as Finance Minister paving way for Dar to take helm of economy

Finance Minister Miftah Ismail has stepped down from his post as senior PML-N leader Ishaq Dar is all set to become the country’s new finance czar. The development came on Sunday after an important PML-N meeting was held under the chairmanship of party supremo and former prime minister Nawaz Sharif in London, along with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Marriyum Aurangzeb.

6 Pakistan Army officials martyred in Harnai helicopter crash

The Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said on Monday that six Pakistan Army officials, including two majors, were martyred after a helicopter crashed during a flying mission near Khost in Harnai, Balochistan. The ISPR has yet to release details about the cause of the crash which comes more than a month after a similar incident occurred in Balochistan.

An accountability court on Friday suspended the arrest warrant against Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) Senator Ishaq Dar and dismissed orders for arrest upon his arrival in Pakistan, paving his way for return to Pakistan. The court, while giving an opportunity to Ishaq Dar to surrender, also ordered that the PML-N leader not be arrested when he lands in Pakistan.

Pakistan braces for flood yet again after unusual monsoon rains in India

PMD’s Flood Forecasting Division has issued a flood warning in Ravi, Sutlej, and Chenab rivers following heavy monsoon rains in India. While Pakistan is already reeling from the devastating floods and economic crisis induced by it, another flood is likely to hit the country as water levels in the mentioned rivers are expected to rise significantly on 17 and 18 September.

Blame game and war of words erupts between PM Shehbaz and Imran Khan on Twitter

Utility stores officers caught selling relief ration bags

Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has filed an FIR against Utility Stores Corporation employees in Sukkur for selling ration bags reserved for flood-affected people in the open market. Note here that the Utility Stores are government operated and run by government employees which has raised eyebrows on the transparency of flood relief operations carried out in parts of Pakistan, especially Sindh.
