Islamabad aims to build digitally-enabled public schools with Google and Tech Valley

Islamabad aims to become the gold standard for digitally-enabled public schools after signing an MOU with Google and Tech Valley. It is part of Prime Minister Imran Khan’s vision for a digitally transformed Pakistan, called “Digital Pakistan.” Moreover, Tech Valley is going to implement Google Work Space based on cloud computing infrastructure in 200 schools across Islamabad Capital Territory.

Reko Diq case: International court unfreezes PIA assets

British Virgin Islands: The High Court of Justice has unfrozen PIA’s assets in a case initiated by Tethyan Copper Company (TCC) for attachment of Pakistan’s assets in the Reko Diq case. In December last year, HCJ Justice Gerd Wall Bank froze a 40 percent stake in Minhal Inc., Roosevelt Hotel in New York, and Scribe Hotel in Central Paris at the request of the TCC.

KPK‌ ‌government‌ ‌to‌ ‌raise minimum wage for all public and private employees by 25%

The KPK government has increased minimum wages by Rs 4000 for public and private workers. With the new change in place, the monthly wage for daily workers will be increased from RS 17000 to RS 21000. The summary approved by KP Chief Minister is likely to be effective from July 1st, 2021.

Pakistani mountaineer Asad Memon aims to summit Denali

UNGA president Volkan Bozkir arrives in Pakistan today

In response to the invitation from Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi, UN General Assembly President Volkan Bozkir is arriving in Islamabad today (Wednesday) on a three-day visit. A Foreign Office statement said Bozkir would speak in detail with the minister during his stay in Islamabad. During the discussions, They will address a wide range of political, economic, and social issues.

Vaccine campaign begins tomorrow for citizens ages 19 and older

NCOC chief Asad Umar said citizens aged 19 and over would register for the Covid-19 vaccine from Thursday. Therefore, he called the start of the vaccination campaign for this age group to get a vaccination for all. “At today’s meeting of NCOC, we agreed to open vaccination registration to all those aged 19 and over,” Umar tweeted.

PTA permits 19 mobile companies to manufacture locally

PTA has issued mobile device manufacturing licenses to 19 foreign and local companies for manufacturing mobile devices locally. Moreover, PTA issued Mobile Device Manufacturing Regulations in 2021, intended to assist manufacturers in setting up their facilities in Pakistan. This led to the issuance of manufacturing authorizations, a significant step in the journey towards “Digital Pakistan”.

Pakistan’s coronavirus positivity rate falls to the lowest level

Pakistan reported a 4.82% coronavirus positivity rate today. It was the lowest positive percentage in 10 weeks after 2,253 new infections were reported within the past 24 hours. The coronavirus positivity rate had averaged 8.5% for the past 30 days. NCOC figures indicate that the country’s caseload has reached 905,852 as of today. So far, about 813,855 people have recovered from the virus in Pakistan, with 62,295 cases active.

Pakistan preparing to introduce its own PakVac COVID vaccine

Pakistan produced its first batch of China’s single-dose COVID-19 vaccine Cansino, an important milestone for the nation. According to the National Institutes of Health, NIH, the local PAKVAC COVID vaccine will be available to the citizens by the end of this month. Moreover, Chinese supports have enabled the development of 124,000 CanSino Jabs, which will be distributed in local packaging.

KPK tourist spot reopened to the public under strict SOPs

Tourist spots in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa have been reopened to public under strict SOPs. Kamran Bangash, spokesperson of the KP government, made the announcement while advising tourists to maintain decorum at the destinations. He also advised travellers to follow all rules designed by NCOC to stop spread of COVID-19 and ensure social distancing while wearing masks.
