Punjab‌ ‌government‌ ‌to provide monthly stipends to transgender people

The Punjab government will pay monthly stipends to transgenders under a new social protection program. Firdous Ashiq Awan, Special Assistant to Punjab Chief Minister on Information, made the announcement in Lahore while talking to the media with Jamal Nasir Cheema, Vice Chairman, Punjab Social Protection Authority. Moreover, she added that transgender people are a part of society and would receive a monthly stipend.

According to Dr Firdous, the ‘Ehsaas Punjab Masawaat Programme’ facilitates transgender rights. Consequently, in this programme, transgender people between the ages of 18 and 40 were being provided with Rs2,000 every month. She said transgender folks above the age of 40 were receiving Rs3,000 every month.
