National Geographic’s famous green-eyed ‘Afghan Girl’ has made her way to Italy

It has been announced that ‘Afghan Girl’, the famous green-eyed figure pictured in National Geographic magazine’s iconic cover picture has arrived in Italy. Sharbat Gula, now a woman in her late 40s, was evacuated from war-torn Afghanistan following the Taliban’s takeover of the country.  The evacuation of Gula was organized by Italy after receiving her request for assistance.

Pakistan’s total debt exceeds Rs 50 trillion, more than the country’s GDP

It is estimated that Pakistan has total debt and liability exceeding 50.5 trillion Pakistani rupees (PKR). The official figures released on Wednesday indicated that PKR 20.7 trillion was added by the current government alone. The State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) has published the debt figures until September 2021. This comes after Prime Minister Imran Khan described the growing debt as a “national security issue”.

Pakistan conducts successful flight test of Shaheen-1A ballistic missile

Pakistan conducted a successful flight test of the Shaheen-1A surface-to-surface missile on Thursday. The test flight was meant to re-validate certain technical parameters and design parameters of the weapon system. The ISPR released a statement announcing the flight. DG Strategic Plans Division, Chairman NESCOM, Commander Army Strategic Forces Command, and scientists and engineers of strategic organizations witnessed the flight test.

PUBG MOBILE offers scholarships to youth via ‘Campus Empower’ program

PUBG MOBILE, the video game series produced by PUBG in Pakistan, is back with another gaming project geared towards youth. PUBG MOBILE has launched its Campus Empower Program to recruit talented students in Pakistan. The ‘Campus Empower’ program will identify talent across Pakistan’s campuses. The most promising candidates will be selected to win scholarships worth up to 7 million rupees.

AFP to organize nation’s first open javelin throw competition in Lahore

The Athletics Federation of Pakistan (AFP) will host the first-ever National Open Javelin Throw competition on November 29 at the Punjab Stadium, Lahore. Following the incredible performance of Pakistan’s javelin thrower Arshad Nadeem at the Tokyo Olympics, the AFP decided to give a chance to young and promising competitors all over Pakistan. The competition would allow the athletes to showcase their talent.

Komal Ali Shah becomes first Pakistani to be selected for anti-nuclear weapon academy

Komal Ali Shah has been selected as the first Pakistani for the Hiroshima-ICAN Academy on Nuclear Weapons and Global Security 2021. She is a student at the National Defence University’s Department of Strategic Studies. Nuclear Weapons and Global Security was established in 2019 and take place every year. Komal Ali Shah was one of 41 participants to be selected for this year’s program.
