Toyota Indus Motor recently announced that it would begin producing hybrid electric vehicles in Pakistan soon. The company announced by a formal notification that it would invest $100 million in local production over the next three years. Toyota IMC is allocating funds for the upgrading of the local assembly plant at Port Qasim, Karachi.

The localization of parts will also be improved through this initiative. There are also reports that Honda Atlas Cars Limited (HACL) plans to invest significantly in the local production of Hybrid Electric Vehicles in the near future. Furthermore, the local assembly of Toyota’s HEVs will also spur other automakers to introduce their HEV in Pakistan.
