The Language of Paradise, written by special person Kashif Alvi, was launched at the Presidency last week. The first lady of Pakistan, Samina Alvi, was the chief guest at the launch ceremony. The author is the first deaf and mute writer in Pakistan. Kashif Alvi laments society’s refusal to embrace the deaf-mute community in The Language of Paradise.

Google Doodle honors legendary Moin Akhtar on his 71st birth anniversary

Google celebrated the 71st birthday of legendary artist and comedian Moin Akhtar with a doodle. The doodle was illustrated by Hazem Asif, a digital artist from Lahore, Pakistan. It was inspired by the retro technicolor palette of the 90s to create the doodle for the iconic humorist. Hazem explained that he was inspired to make Akhtar’s doodle have a classic feel. 

Pakistani-American Adeel Rana becomes first Muslim officer to be appointed as NYPD deputy inspector

A Pakistani-American Adeel Rana has been named the first deputy inspector for the New York City Police Department (NYPD). Adeel Rana was previously the precinct commanding officer. In a tweet, the Pakistan Embassy in the US congratulated Rana on his success. Rana shared a video from the ceremony in which he was elevated to the rank of deputy inspector on Twitter.

PCB to award scholarships, RS. 30,000 stipend to top-100 young cricketers

PCB has announced ‘Pathway Junior Contracts’ for young cricketers, as part of the bottom-up strategy for investing in youth and pathways. This decision was made at the 67th meeting of the Board of Governors (BoG) of the PCB in Karachi. They have also announced ‘Pathway Cricket Foundation ‘ where PCB will appoint qualified coaches for young cricketers.

Highly venomous snake stows away 4,000 miles from Pakistan to England

The highly venomous snake was found in a shipping package sent from Pakistan to the United Kingdom. Forklift driver discovered the venomous reptile while unloading bricks from a container booked by Manchester Brick Specialist. The driver immediately notified the logistics manager and called the RSPCA, which was able to save the snake.

CDA to restore recently discovered 500 years old historical mosque in Islamabad

Archeologists have discovered a historical mosque in the federal capital dating back 500 years. The mosque was discovered by the CDA’s Environment Wing during restoration work on the lotus lake. There is also an equally old banyan tree in the courtyard of the mosque. According to the relevant authorities, the site has been declared an archaeological site.

Yorkshire signs Haris Rauf for 2022 as part of partnership with Qalandars
