Japanese citizen reaches Orangi Town thinking it’s a tourist spot

Following the Chinese, a Japanese citizen on Monday flew into Karachi’s Orangi Town. On his trip to Sindh, he mistakenly thought this was a tourist attraction. Tamazaki Takioya has been traveling through Sindh for the past two days. The police recently caught the suspect in Orangi Town during a snap-check. 

Lahore Qalandars becomes first team in PSL history to reach 200-runs mark five times

Pakistan Super League (PSL) team Lahore Qalandars became the first team to score over 200 runs in an innings.  After scoring 206 runs against Multan Sultans, which ended in a losing cause despite a huge total. In the PSL, teams have reached a two-hundred-run benchmark 18 times so far. The Lahore Qalandars have scored 200 or more runs five times. 

Taliban offers refuge to a pregnant journalist barred from returning to New Zealand

The New Zealand’s pregnant journalist who has been denied re-entry into her home country due to strict Covid-19 regulations said she has been offered refuge by Taliban leaders in Afghanistan. “This just feels like such a breach of trust,” Charlotte Bellis told Radio New Zealand on Sunday. She is working for Al Jazeera in Afghanistan.

Seven Pakistani ophthalmologists to serve in OIC mission in Niger

A senior OIC official announced that Pakistani ophthalmologists have been sent to Niger as part of an OIC mission on health and higher education for Africa. A committee of the OIC was established in 1981 during the Islamic Summit in Makkah. The organization’s primary objective is to enhance the technological and scientific capabilities of member states of the OIC.

Karachiites stunned as meteor spotted shooting through the sky 

A meteor in the southeastern region of Pakistan produced a spectacular display of flame trails as it raced across the sky. People took to social media to share videos that showed a fast-moving glowing object in the sky that soon vanished. Some also reported hearing a loud explosion accompanying the gleaming object.

India prohibits singer Gippy Grewal from visiting Pakistan

The Indian immigration authorities reportedly stopped Gippy Grewal at the Atari border on Friday. He was prevented from entering Pakistan through the Wagah border. The singer was scheduled to visit Kartarpur, so arrangements were made for his arrival at the border. He was to leave for Kartarpur (Narowal) at 9:30 am and return to Lahore by 3:30 pm. 

Sharmeen Obaid is set to make a documentary based on Pakistan’s cricket

Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy, a filmmaker who has won two Oscars for documentaries, will collaborate with the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) on a project. The Oscar-winning director wrote on her Instagram account, “We’re excited to share Pakistan cricket with the world at the start of the HBL PSL.”  She is producing a documentary about Pakistan’s 70-year journey in cricket. 

Indian govt purchases Israeli spyware Pegasus to target its neighbor under $2bn deal, report

The Indian government under Narendra Modi purchased Israeli spyware Pegasus back in 2017 as part of a $2-billion defense package. Tel Aviv sold the powerful spy tool to many countries, turning it over to nationalist leaders around the world. The spying tool was sold to Poland, Hungary, and India despite the poor human rights records of these countries.

Pakistani-Canadian opens 22 ‘multicultural free libraries’ in Canada to promote different cultures

In a bid to promote Pakistani culture and other cultures in Canada, Pakistani National Syed Najam Hassan has established outdoor multicultural free libraries. New immigrants like Syed Najam Hassan faced some challenges in Calgary when they arrived in 2009. He noticed that new immigrants coming from different countries in Canada are having difficulty finding books in their own languages.
