25 Saudi universities to receive 600 Pakistani students on fully funded scholarships

Six hundred Pakistanis will receive fully funded Saudi scholarships to join top universities in the Kingdom. The scholarship initiative, which was announced by the Kingdom last year, was launched by the Saudi Ministry of Education earlier this week. It includes 25 universities that will receive students pursuing diploma, bachelor’s, master’s and doctoral studies. The students will join their respective programs in September-October.

Pakistani national sentenced to prison for posting video of sloganeering at Masjid-e-Nabwi

Saudi Arabia has sentenced a Pakistani man to three years in prison and fined him SR10,000 (Rs0.54 million) for sharing online a video of sloganeering by a group of people at MAsjid-e-Nabwi. Pakistan’s foreign office on Friday confirmed that a Pakistani national, Tahir Malik, was sentenced in Saudi Arabia for sharing the video of the incident. 

Retired generals not loyal to their institution, should return badges: Maryam

Taking a jibe at retired generals who called for dismissal of assemblies, PML-N Vice President Maryam Nawaz on Thursday, said the Pakistan Army veterans were not loyal to their institution. Speaking to media outside Islamabad High Court (IHC), Maryam challenged them to return their medals if they were interested in politics, adding that the media should criticise the one “who made things worse”.
