Samsung plans to build local smartphone assembly plant in Pakistan.

Samsung is in talks with three potential investors about establishing a smartphone assembly plant in Pakistan. So far, no agreement has been signed between Samsung and investors. Samsung is currently in the process of finalizing its plan to award the license to one of the companies for cellphone manufacturing. In addition, Samsung may prefer to sign a deal with a Korean company in Pakistan.  The firm is more comfortable with a Korean company than with a non-Korean company. The government has framed MDMP to encourage foreign players to set up manufacturing units in Pakistan. It aims to promote the product under the label “Made in Pakistan” and discourage imports.
