The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) of Pakistan has been the victim of a large-scale cyber attack. It was discovered that of more than 1500 computer systems, a group of unknown hackers was selling network access to the agency on a Russian cybercrime forum. Hackread.com was informed that hackers breached Microsoft Hyper-V software. They took down both the official website and every subdomain of the agency.
The website Hackread.com was able to confirm that hackers are currently selling the FBR’s network access for $26,000. They have also asked for $30,000. Otherwise, they intend to infect all devices at the FBR and sell them to interested parties. Meanwhile, the Federal Reserve has acknowledged the data breach and called it “a national crisis-like situation.”
