Aga Khan ranked among Top 100 Clinical Medicine universities globally

According to a ranking by ShanghaiRanking of the world’s universities for 2019, Aga Khan University (AKU) has been ranked among the top 100 in the clinical medicine category and among top 500 in public health. In both clinical medicine and public health it was ranked in 151-200 group. University of Karachi also made to the list ranking 301-400 group in Pharmacy & Pharmaceutical Sciences

India repeals Article 370 giving Indians right to buy property in IoK

Ruling party in India repeals Article 370 of constitution, stripping Kashmiris of special autonomy they had for seven decades through a rushed presidential order. People from rest of India will now have right to acquire property in occupied Kashmir. Article 370 had also limited power of Indian parliament to impose laws in state, apart from matters of defence, foreign affairs and communications. 

Pakistan will use all possible options to counter ‘illegal steps’ taken by India: FO

After Indian government’s plot to strengthen its hold in occupied Kashmir, the Foreign Office (FO) strongly condemned the move and stated that “Pakistan will exercise all possible options to counter the illegal steps”. The statement reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to the Kashmiri cause and rejected the move by the Indian government, stressing that IoK was internationally recognised as a disputed territory.

Najam Sethi gets served a Rs. 10 billion defamation notice by PM Imran

Veteran journalist Najam Sethi has been served a defamation notice of Rs. 10 billion by Prime Minister Imran Khan’s counsel Babar Awan. Sethi has been served for claiming on his TV show that Bushra Bibi, Khan’s wife, had filed for divorce. Azhar Laghari, the Central Head of PTI’s Public Relations, shared the copy of the notice on his Twitter handle.

Pakistani makes history by winning Tekken 7 tournament at EVO 2019

Pakistan’s Arslan Ash has won the championship of Tekken 7 at the world’s biggest fighting game tournament, Evo 2019, in Las Vegas. Ash, a relatively unknown player in the tournament, defeated South Korea’s Knee last night to be crowned the winner. The final round of the event featured 8 top professional gamers from 4 countries including the USA, South Korea, and Japan.

India introduces resolution to end occupied Kashmir’s special constitutional status

India’s ruling party’s Home Minister Amit Shah on Monday introduced a measure in parliament to revoke the special constitutional status of occupied Kashmir. The move by Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) to revoke special constitutional status, which allows only residents to buy property and hold state government jobs, is the most far-reaching move on the disputed Himalayan region in nearly seven decades.

India imposes curfew-like restrictions in IoK, former CMs put under house arrest

Indian government imposed curfew like conditions in Indian-occupied Kashmir (IoK),  and placed under house arrest the former chief ministers of IoK Omar Abdullah and Mehbooba Mufti. Internet services on the cellphones were also suspended, in order to prevent any possible anti-India demonstrations from being organised. All educational institutions have been closed in the restive region and public movement has been banned. 

Panic grips Kashmiri residents and tourists as India deploys added troops

Panic grips all over Indian occupied Kashmir (IOK) as Indian government has asked tourists and Hindu pilgrims to leave immediately. Additional deployment of 25000 troops and call to stockpile food and fuel has sparked fears in occupied Kashmir that New Delhi is planning to scrap an Indian constitutional provision that disallows Indians to buy land in the Muslim-majority region.

In 2014, a group of four South Korean friends tried to prove just how much nitrogen air is stuffed in packets of potato chips. The students agitated by increasing gas content, built a raft by tying together 160 unopened bags of potato crisps. Then two of them stepped aboard and paddled it for 1.3km (0.62 miles) across the Han River, watched by nearly 200 spectators.

India used cluster munitions against civilians, violating Geneva Convention: ISPR

The Indian Army used cluster munitions along Line of Control (LOC) to target civilians, violating the Geneva Convention and international laws, said a statement released by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR). As a result of bombardment by cluster munitions, at least two civilians – including a four-year-old boy – were martyred and 11 were injured. The attack took place on the night of July 30/31.
