Queen shows support for Harry and Meghan’s decision to become financially independent

Britain’s Queen Elizabeth has given her blessing and support to grandson Prince Harry and his wife Meghan’s wish for a more independent future. She said there would be a transition period during which the couple would spend time in Britain and Canada, adding there was more work to be done on finalising future arrangements for the couple.

Indian soldier ‘slips’ on snow and lands in Pakistan: reports

A junior officer of the Indian army posted in occupied Kashmir  accidentally ‘slipped’ in heavy snow and landed across the border into Pakistan last week, Khaleej Times has reported. The officer, identified as Havildar Rajendra Singh Negi, was on patrol duty in the Gulmarg area of Indian occupied Kashmir (IoK) when the ‘accident’ occurred and Negi went missing.

Parliament passes Zainab Alert bill almost 2 years after the 7 year old’s brutal murder

The parliament has passed the Zainab Alert, Response, and Recovery Act, 2020, named after Zainab, a seven-year-old girl who had been abducted and murdered after rape in early 2018. The bill presented in the National Assembly eight months ago, has now been forwarded to Senate for final approval. The legislation was mandatory in the wake of increasing cases of child abuse in the country.

Strong grip of snowfall and rain in Pakistan leaves at least 41 dead

At least 41 people have died across Pakistan as the country experiences an extremely cold spell, with Balochistan and Azad Kashmir being the worst hit regions where extremely low temperatures due to snowfall brought life to a standstill. According to meteorologists, the “strong westerly wave” is expected to continue until at least Tuesday.

The image has made PTI-led Punjab government skeptical about the ‘serious nature’ of his health as Nawaz appears very stable in the picture and may become a hurdle for extension in his stay abroad. 

Muslim women travel with trucks to help firefighters during Australian bushfire

Muslim women, from the Australian Islamic Centre in a suburb of Melbourne, traveled more than four hours to bring food for the tired firefighters. Rashid Elhouli, who oversees online public relations, told that the ladies also cooked food for the rescuers in Jacksonville and collected 5 trucks of supplies along with a cookout, who thanked them for their wonderful gesture.

Iron Man could return to MCU: Robert Downey Jr.

Hollywood star Robert Downey Jr. has revealed that hero character favourite Iron Man might one day return to the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). Downey Jr. last appeared as Iron Man in the superhero team-up film Avengers: Endgame. Although his character Tony Stark died in the film, Downey Jr. doesn’t seem ready to close the door on a potential return. 

Pakistani expat turns saviour for Indian girl in Dubai

Pakistani cab driver in Dubai turned a saviour for an Indian girl who lost her wallet containing important documents including her UK student visa and credit cards. Modassir Khadim, the young taxi driver, went out of his way to return the wallet to Raechel Rose. Rose tried to track the taxi through police. 

Serena Williams wins first title since becoming a mother

Serena Williams , the 38-year-old has won her first title since becoming a mother – and immediately donated her $43,000 prize money to Australian bushfire relief. She lifted the trophy at the ASB Classic in Auckland, New Zealand, after defeating fellow American Jessica Pegula.  While expressing joy she mentioned that it was really important as it would help her to move towards the next goal. 

Pakistan’s first vertical farm sells leafy greens to local restaurants

Pakistan’s first urban vertical farm in Karachi being a commercial venture, supplies the produce  to some of the city’s finest restaurants and supermarkets. Sohail Ahmed and his son started working on the urban agriculture project in 2016 after shutting down in 2006 due to worldwide recession and by April 2018, their vertical farm had been set up in the 60 ft. room, and already blooming.
