Banners asking charity for Nawaz Sharif’s treatment pop up in London

Several charity posters and pamphlets with a picture of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader Nawaz Sharif have emerged in different parts of London, requesting donations for his treatment. The posters carrying a message for Nawaz’s treatment read that “Please donate your ‘Sadqa and ‘Zakat’ (charity) to save your’s Qaumi (National) hero.” The banners have appeared in the East London area.

Altaf Hussain asks India for asylum for himself and associates

Founder of MQM-London, Altaf Hussain has asked Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi to grant political asylum to him and his associates. Altaf made the request during a speech aired on social media from his London abode earlier this month. “[If granted asylum] I will not interfere in any politics, I promise,” assured Mr Hussain to the Indian government in a speech.

Pakistanis are preferred candidates for 350,000 jobs in Japan

Japan has invited foreigners to apply for over 350,000 jobs in the country. The East Asian country has placed Pakistan among the top 10 preferred countries owing to the relationship between the two countries, the Japanese Ambassador said in Islamabad this week. The job opportunities have been created as Japan is facing a shortage of young human resources as the number of elderly people is increasing day by day.

Porsche to be the next contender in global electric car market

German car manufacturer, Porsche intends to be the next contender in global electric car market, aiming to make 50 per cent of its production electric by 2050. Porsche’s North American chief, Klaus Zellmer said he has set out plans to overtake market leader Tesla. From 2021 Porsche intends to sell a fully electric version of its SUV, the Macan, which would compete directly against Tesla’s Y model.

Supermarkets in Asia are now using banana leaves for packaging

Supermarkets in Vietnam have adopted an initiative from Thailand that makes use of banana leaves instead of plastic as a packaging alternative after a local firm featured the idea on Facebook. The novel idea caught attention of Vietnamese supermarkets. According to the supermarket’s representatives they are still in the testing phase but will be replacing plastic packaging with leaves soon.

Retired Indian Army Major General Sinha has called for rape of Kashmiri women, on live television. Recently, the ex-General SP Sinha was part of a live television program. During the program, despite requests from the anchor and everyone else to keep his ‘rape advocacy’ to himself, he began shouting ‘rape for rape’ at the top of his lungs.

Number of Pakistani origin female candidates in UK polls reaches record 23

A record 23 female candidates of Pakistani origin will be participating in the upcoming general elections in UK, which will be held on December 12. The UK is set to break its record as more than 1,000 female candidates will take part in the elections. Total number of candidates vying for seats in the House of Commons is more than 3,300, 34% of which are female candidates.

Islamic countries’ economy will grow to $3.4 trillion by 2024, latest reports reveal

Dinar Standard, a US-based research and advisory company’s, latest report has revealed that the global spending in Islam-inspired ethical consumption sectors will increase by 45%, reaching $3.2 trillion by 2024. The report titled “7th Annual State of the Global Islamic Economy” states that Malaysia, the UAE, Bahrain, and Saudi Arabia have dominated the Global Islamic Economy Indicator rankings. Pakistan ranks 8th ahead of Kuwait and Qatar.

Sikh communities demand Nobel Peace Award for PM Imran Khan
