In 2014, a group of four South Korean friends tried to prove just how much nitrogen air is stuffed in packets of potato chips. The students agitated by increasing gas content, built a raft by tying together 160 unopened bags of potato crisps. Then two of them stepped aboard and paddled it for 1.3km (0.62 miles) across the Han River, watched by nearly 200 spectators.

India used cluster munitions against civilians, violating Geneva Convention: ISPR

The Indian Army used cluster munitions along Line of Control (LOC) to target civilians, violating the Geneva Convention and international laws, said a statement released by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR). As a result of bombardment by cluster munitions, at least two civilians – including a four-year-old boy – were martyred and 11 were injured. The attack took place on the night of July 30/31.

Foreign cricketers refuse to play entire HBL PSL in Pakistan

Despite considerable improvement in security situation in Pakistan, some foreign cricketers have refused to play the entire fifth season of Habib Bank Limited (HBL) Pakistan Super League in Pakistan. Reportedly, franchises want to hold half season of next year’s PSL5 in United Arab Emirates (UAE), since they feel that it is currently not feasible to hold entire edition in Pakistan.

No biryani and daal chawal for Pakistani cricketers

In order to bring high fitness standards in Pakistan’s cricket team, Wasim Khan, the managing director of Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), has pledged to discourage the culture of Biryani and Daal Chawal in players’ diets. While speaking in a PTV Sports’ TV show, Khan said the board will hire qualified nutritionists to keep a close watch on cricketers’ daily diet. 

200 sexual abuse cases solved by Pakpattan’s first female SHO

SHO Kulsoom Fatima, appointed two months ago in Pakpattan has manifested remarkable performance by solving 200 sexual abuse cases in her short tenure. In an interview to British Broadcasting Channel (BBC), Fatima revealed that she always wanted to do something for victims of sexual abuse. Luckily, she was appointed sub-inspector in Punjab Police and that gave her opportunity to work on her dream job.

Pakistan Railways suffered 74 accidents over past 11 months

The Ministry of Railways has stated that Pakistan Railways suffered 74 accidents nationwide over a period of 11 months, between August 2018 to June 2019. Out of 74 accidents, 20 accidents were of freight trains derailing while another 20 occurred at unmanned railway crossings. Despite claims by PTI Railway Minister, Sheikh Rasheed, no significant improvement has been made in the fate of Pakistan Railways. 

Man caught on video masturbating, harassing girls in Lahore

A social media user has shared video of a man masturbating on a motorcycle publicly and making eye contact with the woman. The incident reportedly occurred early in the morning at Thokar Niaz Baig area in Lahore. The user claimed that a lot of women have suffered the same sort of harassment at the hands of this man.

India rejects mediation offer by US in Kashmir issue

US President Donald Trump’s offer to mediate on Kashmir issue has been rejected by India. India has conveyed to the United States (US) that Kashmir remained a bilateral issue between Islamabad and New Delhi and mediation on the topic was neither welcome nor warranted. This is the second time New Delhi has rejected an offer of mediation by Washington.

After Amir, Wahab Riaz also retires from Test cricket

According to reports by a local news channel, following Amir’s decision, Wahab Riaz has also decided to retire from Test cricket. The 34-year-old left-arm fast bowler, who is currently playing the Global T20 League in Canada is expected to formally announce the decision upon his return to Pakistan. Wahab’s decision, like Mohammad Amir, seems to be taken to prolong his limited-overs career.
