Multan Sultans participated in PSL4 without depositing franchise fee

The Pakistan Super League (PSL) franchise Multan Sultans apparently participated in fourth season of HBL PSL without depositing mandatory franchise fee. Reportedly, the annual amount of $6.35 million, needs to be deposited before start of the season. However, four months having gone by and the Multan Consortium, led by Ali Khan Tareen has not made payment to Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB).

Inflation will peak in next few months and then go down: Asad Umar

PTI leader and former finance minister Asad Umar has said that according to his assessment inflation rates would peak in next two to four months. While speaking on a local news channel, Umar said that after few months, slowly inflation rate would start going down, which would be reflected in monetary policy and hence, interest rates would also go down. 

Rs500 mn deposited into exchequer from Dar’s seized accounts

The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) has recovered Rs500 million from seized bank accounts of former finance minister Ishaq Dar. The amount recovered from the absconding minister has been deposited in the national exchequer. The anti-graft watchdog has also initiated a formal money laundering investigation against Dar. The amount of Rs. 500 million has been recovered from three different accounts of Mr Dar. 

PM Imran orders restoration of previous naan, roti prices

The federal cabinet decided has decided to bring down prices of naan and roti to their previous rates throughout the country. At present naan is selling at Rs12 to Rs15 in different cities of the country, as opposed to Rs. 8 and Rs. 10 earlier. Similarly, roti is available at Rs10 to Rs12 while its previous rate was Rs7 to Rs8.

K-P hospitals to set up separate wards for transgender community

The Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa government has decided to set up separate wards for transgender persons in all public hospitals in a bid to avoid discrimination and ease medical facilitation for the marginalised community. The K-P CM called for immediate medical services to the transgender community in all government hospitals and other healthcare institutions in the province.

Imam expresses remorse over his recent conduct, apologises to PCB

Pakistan opening batsman, Imam-ul-Haq, has expressed remorse and apologized to the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) following his scandal which surfaced on social media last week. The 23-year-old was accused of cheating and manipulating by a few girls, who posted objectionable screenshots of their conversations. Imam told the PCB the matter got out of hand due to a misunderstanding.

Over 500 Indian Sikh pilgrims arrive in Pakistan

A special delegation of over 500 Indian Sikh pilgrims have been allowed to visit Nankana Sahib for the celebrations of the 550th birth anniversary of Baba Guru Nanak, the founder of the Sikh religion. India’s prime minister, Narendra Modi, will appear with Bear Grylls in a wilderness survival programme, in which the 68-year-old leader projects himself as a man of action and champion of environment. A trailer of Man vs Wild, will air on 12 August. The two men are seen cutting through forests, sniffing animal dung and floating down a river on a makeshift raft.

China to help FBR reduce misdeclarations at ports

Pakistan and China have decided to enter into an agreement to control misdeclaration at the country’s ports, as the menace has been causing massive revenue and foreign investment loss. In order to control corruption within the customs department and reduce misdeclaration, the two countries will automate the port data and declaration system. Currently, 62% of declared goods at port showed discrepancies.

Pakistani driving licenses might become valid in UAE soon

Federal Minister for Communications and Postal Services, Murad Saeed has said that Pakistan-issued driving licenses will be accepted in Dubai after signing of MoU. A team will be visiting the Gulf state in coming week for this purpose. Once MoU is signed, job opportunities for Pakistani expats will increase significantly, as there will be no need to get UAE license.
