Switzerland rejects Pakistan’s request to provide five years old tax information

Switzerland has rejected Pakistan’s request to provide five years old tax information under the Automatic Exchange of Information. The bank accounts’ information that Switzerland will share in September 2021, will pertain to the accounts positions for the calendar year 2020. Since Pakistan’s demand had no legal justification, the Swiss authorities have informed that they cannot provide any information before January 2019 period.

KP government to spend Rs. 5 Billion on new tourist destinations

To promote tourism in the country, the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has approved Rs. 5 billion for construction of roads and new tourism spots across the province. The budget will be used to build fourteen roads in Hazara and Malakand Divisions. On the directives of the provincial Minister for Tourism Atif Khan, the construction work will start this week.

Islamabad police to introduce body worn cameras

Islamabad Capital Territory Police has decided to use body-worn cameras at checkpoints in the capital for enhanced security and better implementation of law and order. The capital Police has arranged 20 cameras to start with and the footage will be connected to the Safe City Project.The initiative is a pilot project to test the performance of these cameras and are sponsored by JS bank. 

Pakistan is planning to export electricity to Central Asia

Pakistan has initiated talks with central Asian countries of Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan for electricity export during winter under the (Central Asia-South Asia) (CASA-1000) agreement. As per the agreement, Pakistan will import 1,000MW of electricity per day at 9.50 cents per unit in summer from May to October. A 750 kilometer-long high-voltage direct current (DC) transmission line between Pakistan and Tajikistan via Afghanistan will be built at a cost of $1.7 billion for this purpose. 

Jewelry worth 50 million pounds stolen from Tamara Ecclestone

Tamara Ecclestone, the daughter of former Formula One boss Bernie Ecclestone, has had 50 million pounds ($64 million) worth of jewelry stolen from her home in West London. Ecclestone, a model and celebrity in Britain, had just left the country for her Christmas holidays when the burglars entered the property via the garden and seized gems from safes hidden in her bedroom, according to the Sun Newspaper. 

5 years to the horrific attack, ‘APS carnage will never be forgotten’: COAS and President

President Arif Alvi and Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Gen Qamar Javed Bajwa, in their messages on the fifth anniversary of the Army Public School (APS) attack, said the carnage will never be forgotten.  On Dec 16, 2014, six terrorists affiliated with the banned Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan carried out the horrific attack on the school and killed 132 innocent students and 17 staff members.
