AJK police arrested an alleged poacher for shooting a leopard near the river Neelum

The AJK Police have apprehended an alleged poacher a day after an injured leopard was fatally wounded by six gunshots. Police officials told local media that the wildcat that was suspected of being struck by a speeding vehicle was actually shot down near the river Neelum in Muzaffarabad. The AJK law enforcement officials detained a man named Shaukat alias Jangju.

Local police confirmed a case had been filed against the suspected leopard hunters. Aside from the suspect’s arrest, police also recovered the 12 bore shotgun he used to kill the wild animal.
