Justice Ayesha Malik takes oath as the first female Supreme Court Judge of Pakistan

The Supreme Court of Pakistan has appointed the first woman judge ever to the Supreme Court (SC). Justice Ayesha Malik was elevated from the Lahore High Court (LHC). First time in the history of Pakistan, a woman has been sworn in as the judge of the country’s top court. She took an oath before Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Gulzar Ahmed in the federal capital.

The Supreme Court has reached its maximum capacity of 17 judges since the judge from the LHC was inducted. The Pakistani Judicial Commission recommended Justice Ayesha’s elevation to the Supreme Court.
