Balochistan’s Reko Diq Gold mines are valued at $260 billion and could be worth $1 trillion. It is estimated that Reko Diq has 5.9 billion tonnes of ore grading 0.41 percent copper and 41.5 million ounces of gold reserves, making it one of the largest copper and gold deposits in the world. Pakistan is extremely fortunate to have minerals of such high value in Balochistan.
It is not enough to simply feel content with our good fortune. This immense wealth needs to be brought to light with great effort. To establish a thriving and prosperous economy, Pakistan must refine each metal in specialized plants, and make the metals available to downstream industries.
