Police faces severe criticism for not naming PM’s nephew in FIRs against lawyers

The police authorities faced severe criticism for missing out Prime Minister Imran Khan’s nephew Barrister Hassaan Niazi name in the cases registered against lawyers who attacked the Punjab Institute of Cardiology. A mobile phone footage had caught PM’s nephew Hassaan Niazi throwing stones on police on Jail Road. A senior police officer however, denied the allegation of giving favour to Hassaan Niazi.

The police official added that all lawyers who participated in the violent protest would be treated equally. He said Hassaan was among more than 200 lawyers who had gone underground to avoid arrest. The police teams were carrying out raids for their arrest, he said, adding that 46 lawyers had been arrested so far.

Hassaan on the other hand distanced himself from the violent protest, claiming his support was limited to legal action against doctors.
