Asif Ali, who has been performing well in the ongoing T20 World Cup, has been voted the ICC Player of the Month for October. Ali beat out the Bangladeshi Shakib Al Hasan and Namibian David Wiese to win the men’s award. He scored unbeaten 52 runs across three games for Pakistan at the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup, with a strike rate of 273.68.
The first time he made headlines was when he helped Pakistan defeat New Zealand with a 27-ball not-out. His performance in the next match cemented his name in the public eye. Ali hit four sixes in the 19th over as Pakistan needed 24 runs off the final two overs against Afghanistan.
