Aitekaf at the Grand Mosque in Makkah and the Prophet’s Mosque in Madinah will resume during Ramazan after two years, the Saudi government has announced. The religious ritual of staying in mosques for the sole purpose of worship and meditation is observed during Ramazan. As many as 100,000 worshipers perform Aitekaf at the two holy mosques during last 10 days of the holy month.

The Soho tribe has made history by appointing the first female tribal chief in Sindh. PPP MPA, Heer Ismail Soho, called it a “huge honour” and said she had the backing of her family and community members in running the affairs of the clan. Pakistan’s Emma Alam on Monday won the 13th World Speed Reading Championships finals, beating more than 100 competitors from all over the world. Emma, who defeated her Chinese competitor in the finals, was also crowned in 2020 as the World Memory Champion and holder of two titles of Guinness World Records and also recognised as Pride of Pakistan by Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).

Scottish vlogger under fire for publicly shaming Seaview horsemen over petty fraud

Scottish vlogger Dale Philip drew the ire of Pakistanis online after he posted about getting three horsemen at sea view arrested for allegedly defrauding him. Philip tweeted about the incident along with a picture of a young horseman behind bars. He also uploaded a vlog detailing the same, titled “Avoid this horse ride scam in Karachi, Pakistan”. 

Three men attack assistant commissioner in Mansehra for being ‘a woman civil servant’

Three men attacked and injured Mansehra Assistant Commissioner Marvi Malik Sher, later telling police that they did so because they did not want a female civil servant in the area. Federal, Balochistan governments and two international firms sign deal on Reko Diq

The federal and Balochistan governments and two international firms — Antofagasta PLC and Barrick Gold Corporation — have reached an agreement in principle on a framework to reconstitute the Reko Diq project, and a pathway for Antofagasta to exit the project. Through the agreement, government has claimed to have saved the country from $11 billion penalty in Reko Diq case.

U.S. military plane belonging to Marine Corps aircraft crashes in Norway

A U.S. military aircraft with four people on board crashed on Friday in northern Norway. The MV-22B Osprey aircraft belonging to the U.S. Marine Corps was taking part in a NATO military exercise called Cold Response when it was reported missing. Because of the bad weather, the rescue aircraft could not land. Instead, police and rescue services were trying to reach the site by land.
