Islamabad and Karachi ranks amongst world’s cheapest cities in 2021 for expatriates

Pakistan’s federal capital Islamabad and Karachi were ranked among the world’s cheapest cities for expatriates in 2021. Islamabad is ranked the eleventh cheapest city worldwide, while Karachi has been ranked the ninth cheapest city. Moreover, the 27th annual Cost of Living Survey of Mercer, an American asset management firm, evaluated data from 209 major cities across five continents.

Moreover, the purpose of the study was to compile a list of the most affordable and expensive cities globally. To rank each city, it compared the cost of more than 200 items, including lodging, transportation, food, and household essentials. The top three most expensive cities in the world for Foreigners are Ashgabat, Hong Kong, and Beirut. For expatriates, Bishkek, Lusaka, and Tbilisi were ranked as the world’s cheapest cities in 2021.
