ID cards in Pakistan will now be turned into digital wallets by NADRA

In line with government’s Digital Pakistan vision, the National Database and Registration Authority (Nadra) is working to turn computerised national identity cards into a digital wallet. The digital wallet will be a unique digital ID and will be added as an update to an already existing app, called the ‘Pak Identity’. This digital innovation will yield positive results in contactless banking, financial inclusion and ease of doing business.

The ‘Pak identity’ app helps capture biometric fingerprints, facial recognition and scan documents needed for processing a person’s ID card using smartphones, without visiting a Nadra office or embassy. The app is available on both Android and iOS platforms. Users will be able to avail the facility through an app later this year.
