The Punjab government has taken action against hoteliers in Murree for hiking up rents and food prices. This kept many tourists in their cars during the snowstorm. At least 23 people were killed as a result of cold and asphyxiation in the most popular destination in the country. Three Murree hotels were sealed after angry citizens vented their frustrations on social media.
The authorities refused to disclose the hotels’ names. The Murree district police station filed a case on Monday against identified residents of the hill station for throwing snow on the roads.
