Govt decides to make teaching of the Holy Quran mandatory in schools

The Holy Quran will now be part of all Pakistani schools’ curriculums for the coming academic year. The Holy Quran teachings are now mandatory in schools of federal capital territory, Azad Kashmir, and Gilgit Baltistan. Moreover, legislation has already been introduced in the federal government, Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and AJK.

Additionally, Balochistan and Gilgit-Baltistan have adopted a Single National Curriculum with the provision of mandatory Quran teachings for students from grades 1-5.
