The 2021-22 trophy hunting program allowed two foreign hunters to hunt the strongest Astore markhors in Gilgit-Baltistan. American James Kevin hunted the markhor in the Jutial Conservancy area in Gilgit district after paying $131,000 for a trophy permit. During this hunt, Viejo Gonzalez Jesus of Mexico hunted a markhor from Bunji of Astore district for a $136,000 fee.

The Central Karakoram National Park and the Wildlife Department also arrested a man for illegally hunting Himalayan ibex in Askoli village in Shigar district during the day. According to them, Mohammad Taha was transporting ibex meat from Shigar to Skardu.
