Russia has finally broken its silence on the current political turmoil in Pakistan, saying the United States sought to punish a “disobedient” Imran Khan. In a statement, Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs Spokesperson Maria Zakharova lambasted “another attempt of shameless interference” by the United States in the internal affairs of Pakistan for its own selfish purposes.

PIA bans pilots and cabin crew members from observing fasts in Ramzan

Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) has banned its pilots and cabin crew members from observing the fasts during the holy month of Ramadan. In a recently published safety bulletin, the national flag carrier stated that fasting is one of the major factors behind decreased performance of human beings. The safety measures have been issued by PIA’s General Manager of Flight Services, Aamir Bashir.

Govt sacks Chaudhry Sarwar, appoints Omer Cheema as Punjab governor

The federal government had removed Punjab Governor Chaudhry Mohammad Sarwar from his post, appointing Omer Sarfraz Cheema as his replacement. The announcement also came hours before a crucial session of the National Assembly on the no-confidence motion against Prime Minister Imran Khan as well as a sitting of the Punjab Assembly to elect a new leader of the house following Usman Buzdar’s resignation.

WHAT IS A NO-CONFIDENCE MOTION AND WHAT CAN IT DO TO IMRAN KHAN?

The resolution against the embattled premier was tabled by the Leader of the Opposition in the National Assembly Shehbaz Sharif on March 28 and it was approved for debate the very same day. The no-confidence motion, signed by about 100 lawmakers from the PML-N and Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP), was submitted before the National Assembly Secretariat. The leaders alleged that the Imran Khan-led government was responsible for rising inflation.

The data on the employment boom was revealed by Labour Force Survey (LFS) published by the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS).

Female teacher murdered after 13-year-old dreamt she committed blasphemy

 A teacher at an all-girls religious school was killed by a woman colleague and two students who accused her of blasphemy. Two students and a teacher ambushed Safoora Bibi at the main gate of the school and attacked her with a knife and stick. The girls told police a relative had dreamt the dead woman “had committed blasphemy” against the Prophet Mohammed. 

Pakistan pavilion wins ‘silver award’ for interior design

An international jury called to select the best pavilion at the Expo 2020 Dubai has awarded the Silver Award to Pakistan for interior design out of 192 pavilions. Last week, the Pakistan pavilion won the BURJ CEO Award for “Best Pavilion Exterior Design.” The Pakistan pavilion has been visited by over one million people since its launch in October last year.

The Pakistan pavilion at the Expo 2020 Dubai has won the BURJ CEO Award for “Best Pavilion Exterior Design,” the pavilion’s official Twitter account said on Monday. The Burj CEO awards recognize business excellence. Rashid Rana, the brains behind the exterior, was also honoured with the third-highest civilian award Sitara-e-Imtiaz for his contributions to Pakistan in art.

Man kills pregnant wife for saying ‘Mera Jism Meri Marzi’

A man in Lahore murdered his pregnant wife for chanting the slogan “Mera Jism Meri Marzi”. According to details, the horrific incident took place in Lahore’s Shalimar area. Allah Ditta strangled his 28-year-old wife, Maimona, and later tried to cover it up by burning her body and posing it as an accident. However, police have arrested him.
