KP government to set weight limits on school bags carried by children

The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government is ready to introduce a law to limit the weight of school bags carried by children. Under the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa School Bags Limitation of Weight Act 2020, school bags of children in nursery class should not weigh more than 1.5kg, and bags carried by children in class one should not weigh more than 2.4kg.

Pakistan among top-ranked countries in Asia for social protection during pandemic

At a global e-conference hosted by International Policy Centre for Inclusive Growth (IPC-IG), Pakistan was labelled one of the top ranked countries in Asia for its social protection intervention amid the COVID-19 pandemic. The study conducted by UNICEF, UN and IPC-IG reveals that Pakistan covered highest number of responses to social protection in Asia through Ehsaas Emergency Cash.

Despite blindness of ten years, Pakistani man works as repairman to support family

Everyday Muhammad Zarnosh picks up his toolbox and reaches for his young son’s hand, to work as a repairman in an impoverished neighborhood in Karachi.  Zarnosh, now in his thirties, experienced gradual vision loss since birth but lost complete eyesight ten years ago. Since then, he has had to depend on friends and family to move around, but that hasn’t stopped him from working. 

Maryam Nawaz has millions of fake followers on her Twitter account, alleges Fayyaz

Punjab Information Minister Fayyaz-ul-Hassan Chohan has alleged that Pakistan Muslim League (Nawaz) Vice President Maryam Nawaz has millions of fake followers on her Twitter account. Fayyaz revealed that out of 5 million followers of Maryam, 80% are fake. He said that most of the followers never liked any tweet. He further added that, 1898 followers created their Twitter accounts in a single day.

Prime Minister Imran Khan in his latest recommendation to the nation has suggested the youth read Elif Shafak’s  Forty Rules of Love. In his attempt to bring the youth closer to Islam, the premier said that the book had deeply inspired him as it was about divine love. Written by a Turkish author, Shafak, The Forty Rules of Love was published in March 2009.

Declared ‘absconder’, Nawaz’s speeches can not be broadcast: PEMRA

The Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (PEMRA) on Thursday banned the broadcast of speeches, interviews and public addresses by absconders and proclaimed offenders. The development came a few hours after former prime minister Nawaz Sharif slammed the government in his second address to the PML-N’s central working committee meeting, which was aired on numerous news channels in Pakistan.

Prime Minister Imran Khan has claimed that PML-N supremo Nawaz Shari has India’s support to ‘weaken the army’. Prime Minister Imran Khan’s speech at the United Nations General Assembly is the most-watched video among world leaders on the UN’s YouTube page. With more than 170,000 views since it was uploaded on on September 25, Imran takes the lead on US President Donald Trump’s UNGA address which has close to 140,000 views since it was uploaded on September 22. In third place is Indonesian President Joko Widodo’s speech.
