Six marriage halls and 103 restaurants have been sealed in Karachi for failing to comply with health guidelines and Covid-19 prevalence. Karachi over the last week has witnessed an increase in infections; on September 30, an NCOC meeting was apprised of the worrying rise in the number of daily Covid-19 cases reported across the country, especially in the port city.
Two localities of district South were identified as ‘fresh hotspots’ and were placed under a ‘mini smart lockdown’ for a fortnight.
The deputy commissioner South issued a notification placing block ‘A’ of the Creek Vista Apartment in Phase VIII of DHA and sub-division of Saddar under lockdown from October 1 to 15.
A bank branch located in Karachi’s Zamzama area has also been sealed after five staff members tested positive for Covid-19.
