Disputed Islands of Karachi declared ‘protected forests’ by Sindh

Sindh government has declared two islands off the coast of Karachi “protected forests” while instructing its wildlife department to notify the decision. The proclamation was made against the backdrop of an ownership dispute on Bundal and Buddo islands between the federal and provincial authorities. Sindh Governor Imran Ismail announced in October 2020 the federal government was interested in developing new cities over the islands.

It said that on the directions of PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari, Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah had instructed the management at Karachi’s biggest government-run hospital to offer employment to Dr Sara Gill immediately. A sessions court has declared that Atiq-ur-Rehman is legally the husband of actress Meera. Additional Sessions Judge Mazhar Abbas had declared that the nikkahnama [marriage contract] is authentic and therefore Atiq is Meera’s legal husband. 

Textile exports to surge all-time high as rivals lose orders to Pakistan

Pakistan’s textile exports are poised to surge 40% from last year to a record $21 billion in the 12 months ending June, as the country gained an edge over South Asian rivals during pandemic. According to Abdul Razak Dawood, commerce adviser to PM Imran Khan, the figure would expand to $26 billion in the next fiscal year, surpassing the nation’s total exports last year.
