NAB to seize assets of PML-N leader Shehbaz Sharif

Accountability watchdog, NAB has decided to initiate massive action against the Opposition Leader Shehbaz Sharif after a British newspaper accused Shehbaz of embezzling millions of pounds of aid for earthquake victims. The assets he accumulated through unfair means will be seized, which include bungalows situated in 96 Model Town Lahore, Dinga Gali, a residential house in KP and luxury vehicles.

Judge who sentenced Nawaz Sharif says his life is in threat

A day before Judge Arshad Malik is set to appear before Supreme Court in a case pertaining to investigation of the controversial secretly taped video of him, the judge has requested the law ministry to provide him ‘foolproof security’. Citing life threats to his family and him, Malik pleaded law ministry to not withdraw current security detail assigned to him.

Shahbaz’s son-in-law embezzled quake victims aid money sent by UK: Daily Mail

A recent investigation report by Daily Mail alleges that Shehbaz’s son-in-law, Ali Imran, embezzled about £1million from a fund established to rebuild the lives of 2005 earthquake victims. Britain’s Department for International Development gave £54 million in aid money to this fund. The report also gives details of how the Sharif family laundered millions, received via kick-back in different projects, to UK.

Hussain Nawaz offered me “Rs50 Crore” to resign: Judge Malik

Accountability judge Arshad Malik has claimed that he was offered a Rs500 million cash bribe by the son of former prime minister Nawaz Sharif, Hussain Nawaz, who demanded that the judge resign on the grounds that he “could no longer deal with the guilt of having convicted” Nawaz under duress in the Al-Azizia/Hill Metal Establishment reference.

IHC directs Law Ministry to remove Judge Arshad Malik

The Islamabad High Court decided to remove accountability judge Arshad Malik from his post following a controversy revolving around the ‘leaked’ video tape of the judicial officer. The IHC judge directed the registrar office to write a letter to the law ministry regarding relieving judge Malik of his post and repatriating him to the parent department, the LHC.

Maryam Nawaz summoned by NAB on 19th July

An accountability court in Islamabad has summoned Maryam Nawaz on July 19 over the use of a bogus trust deed in the Avenfield properties case. Maryam was summoned after the NAB moved an application before accountability judge Mohammad Bashir. NAB Deputy Prosecutor General filed the application, seeking action against Maryam Nawaz for producing a bogus trust deed during her hearing.

Maryam threatens to go on hunger strike outside Kot Lakh Pat jail

After government’s move to discontinue provision of home-cooked food, PML-N Vice President Maryam Nawaz has threatened to go on a hunger strike outside Kot Lakhpat jail in Lahore if her father Nawaz Sharif is not allowed to eat homemade food. She stated in a Tweet that she doesn’t trust these “oppressors” who can mix anything in his food.

Nawaz not guilty, judge ‘blackmailed’ into issuing verdict: Maryam

PML-N leadership, along with Maryam Nawaz have come forward with a secretly recorded video of Accountability Judge Arshad Malik, who had in December 2018 sentenced Nawaz Sharif to seven years in jail. Video played at the press conference shows Malik confessing that that there was no proof of corruption against Nawaz and he was “blackmailed” into giving the judgement.

Nawaz’s plea for suspension of sentence rejected by IHC

Nawaz had approached IHC for suspension of his sentence in Al-Azizia Steel Mills reference on medical grounds. A two-member bench comprising Justice Mohsin Akhtar Kiyani and Justice Amir Farooq has rejected the plea. Nawaz’s counsel, Khawaja Haris, told court there was 60 per cent risk to Nawaz’s life and said his best treatment was only available abroad.
