Maryam Nawaz should not be treated like a habitual criminal: PML-N

PML-N has criticised the government for treating Maryam Nawaz like a habitual criminal and trying to weaken her resolve by giving C class facilities in jail to the party’s Vice President. Hitting out at the government, PML-N spokesperson Marriyum Aurangzeb said the government has crossed all limits in political vendetta as Maryam deserved B class as per jail manual.

Maryam Nawaz arrested in Chaudhry Sugar Mills Case: NAB

PML-N vice president and daughter of ousted premier Nawaz Sharif, Maryam Nawaz, has been arrested by the National Accountability Bureau (NAB). The anti-graft body has also arrested Yousaf Abbas Sharif, a nephew of Nawaz, in same case. The move comes following Maryam and Yousaf’s reported refusal to appear before NAB in Chaudhary Sugar Mills and assets beyond means case today at 3pm.

PML-N leader Miftah Ismail arrested by NAB

PML-N leader and former finance minister, Miftah Ismail was arrested outside Islamabad High Court (IHC) by National National Accountability Bureau (NAB) on Wednesday. Miftah was arrested after IHC rejected his request for an extension in his pre-arrest interim bail in the LNG import case. NAB is charging Miftah in connection with illegal awarding of LNG terminal-1 to Engro Energy Terminal Private Limited.

Rape accused lawmaker from Punjab flees country

Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz lawmaker Attaur Rehman, accused of rape and blackmail of a university student in Multan for 11 months, has apparently fled the country. The Punjab Assembly lawmaker flew from Multan to United Arab Emirates (UAE) in order to avoid a possible arrest. Rehman had allegedly raped a first-year MSCS student and was using video of the rape to threaten her.

Chairman Senate survives no-confidence by Opposition

The opposition remains shocked as its no-trust resolution to de-seat incumbent Senate Chairman Sadiq Sanjrani failed. Out of the 100 senators who cast their vote, 50 were cast in favour of the de-seating resolution, 5 votes were rejected while 45 votes were cast in Sanjrani’s favour. The ruling party and its allies have 36 senators, meaning that 9 opposition senators voted for Sanjrani. There were also 3 abstentions.

Maryam and 3000 PMLN workers booked for Faisalabad rally

More than 3,000 activists and leaders of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PMLN) have been booked in different police stations in Faisalabad. Charges of delivering speeches against the government, staging rallies without seeking permission, using loudspeaker and hurling threats of disrupting peace on Sunday night have been noted. Police said the accused had created problems by blocking various roads.

Court rejects Rana Sanaullah’s plea to have homemade food in jail

The Sessions Court in Lahore has turned down plea of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader, seeking permission for provision of homemade food in the jail. The court ordered the PML-N leader to contact the Jail Superintendent instead. The jail authorities claim that Sanaullah’s heath is being regularly monitored and he’s being provided with food accordingly.

Former PM sent on a 13 day physical remand by NAB

The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) arrested former prime minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi on Thursday in a mega corruption case pertaining to the award of liquefied natural gas (LNG) import contracts. An accountability court in Islamabad has granted 13-day physical remand of the Pakistan Muslim League (PML-N) leader. Abbasi will be presented before the court on August 1.

‘Calibri’ plea against Maryam Nawaz dismissed

The accountability court, presided by Judge Muhammad Bashir has declared plea ‘Calibre’ against Maryam Nawaz inadmissible for hearing. The plea by the anti-graft watchdog (NAB) seeked action against Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) Vice President Maryam Nawaz for allegedly submitting a bogus trust deed in the Avenfield case. The NAB had also requested a trial against Maryam for fraudulent documents. 

Maryam Nawaz calls for protest rallies over the country

The vice president of Pakistan Muslim League- Nawaz (PML-N), Maryam Nawaz Sharif, in a Tweet has asked people to come out for protest rallies over the country, demanding to free former prime minister Nawaz Sharif. Maryam also added in her Tweet that people should come out to fight for their right as their mandate has been stolen.
