A special hatch-opening ceremony was held at the China Academy of Space Technology to present the Pakistani national flag that was carried to the space station aboard the Shenzhou-12. China Manned Space Agency sent the national flags of Pakistan and China into space in celebration of the 70th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two countries.
The flags were launched aboard the Long March-2F carrier rocket on 17 June 2021. They returned via Shenzhou-12, China’s manned spacecraft, after a three-month stay in space. Chinese space mission Shenzhou-12 carried three astronauts to build Tiangong, a space station expected to be completed next year.
