Middle Eastern countries boycott Indian products over Assam’s police brutality against Muslims

Arab countries are launching social media campaigns calling for the ‘boycott Indian products’ in protest of the police’s violence against Muslims in Assam. Assam police conducted an eviction drive against Muslims in September. Several countries condemned the use of deadly force by Indian police after a video went viral showing the shooting of an unarmed Muslim man.

In the widely circulated video, a government photographer can also be seen repeatedly stepping on a body during the eviction drive. The horrific video has triggered a backlash in the Gulf countries. Arab nations are currently boycotting Indian products on social media. The hashtag ‘India kills Muslims’ is trending in Arab countries. The Indian government has been accused of genocide against the Muslim community.
