Margalla Hills National Park to get Pakistan’s first Asian leopard reserve

A special adviser to the prime minister on climate change said the country will soon announce its first-ever Asian leopard reserve in Margalla Hills National Park. Amin Aslam said the protected area has become a permanent new home for wild cats. The wild cats used to descend to the National Park during winter and return to higher altitudes during summer.

As part of the Leopard Reserve’s control and safety measures, Amin said that a proper mechanism would be devised. Information guides and field personnel will be on duty so as to prevent conflict between humans and wildlife.
