FATF satisfied by Pakistan’s progress on action plan: report

Pakistani team, headed by Minister for Economic Affairs Hammad Azhar, has “defended country’s compliance report during the joint group of FATF meeting held at Beijing, China” and reportedly satisfied the global watchdog. The Indian side had to face embarrassment as the US and European countries did not extend their support to their “tough but mostly irrelevant questions” during the joint group meeting.

Pakistan Army conducts successful training launch of Ghaznavi ballistic missile

Pakistan Army’s strategic forces conducted a successful training launch of the 290-kilometre range Ghaznavi ballistic missile, said a statement by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR). Last year, the Army successfully carried out night training launch of the Ghaznavi surface-to-surface ballistic missile. The latest missile test by the Pakistan Army comes days after India test-launched the submarine-launched K-4 ballistic missile. 

Film ‘Zindagi Tamasha’ will now be assessed by Council of Islamic Ideology for clearance

The film Zindagi Tamasha, despite being cleared by all three censor boards for premier will now be assessed by Council of Islamic Ideology. The decision was taken by the federal government after Tehreek-i-Labbaik Pakistan (TLP) threatened to create unrest in the country if the film is to be released. Following the government’s decision, the TLP has decided to defer the protests.

Health ministry on alert after deadly Corona virus spread in China

The health ministry in Pakistan has directed concerned authorities to remain alert following the spread of deadly Corona virus in China. Special Assistant to the PM on Health Dr Zafar Mirza established a operation cell to monitor the emergency situation.The virus has spread to five countries including the US and has taken 17 lives so far.

PTV will now add Rs. 100 to electricity bills of the consumers

Pakistan Television Corporation (PTV) has decided to increase the license fee from Rs 35 to Rs 100 and add to the electricity bills of the consumers. This will be done in order to overcome its annual financial losses of Rs 17 billion. The board of directors has approved a financial plan finalizing the increase in the license fee. The proposal now awaits Prime Minister Imran Khan’s approval.

PM mentioned that in his opinion this would be insanity as the issue in Afghanistan hasn’t been resolved and Iran would even be a bigger problem.

Lahore woman moves court against Meray Pass Tum Ho finale

A woman filed a petition in a Lahore civil court on Wednesday to stop the final episode of Meray Pass Tum Ho from airing. The show has repeatedly passed derogatory comments about women and has disrespected their status, said the woman, identified as Maham Chaudhry. She stated that this is an attempt to show omen as weak and less important in society and this does not benefit Pakistani women at all.

466 PIA employees found having fake degrees in last 5 years

466 employees of the Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) have been found guilty of submitting fake and tampered-with degrees and educational certificates to the national carrier in the last five years. The Ministry of Aviation has given a detailed list of employees to the Senate Secretariat. It told the Senate that any person found with a fake degree would not be able to escape from their liability as PIA is devising a policy for early verfication of credentials. 

President Trump will visit Pakistan soon: foreign minister

In a recent meeting with Prime Minister of Pakistan in Davos, Switzerland, the US President has assured him that he will visit Pakistan soon.The two leaders met on the sidelines of the World Economic Forum (WEF) and discussed various important issues including bilateral trade, Kashmir, and Afghanistan. This development was announced by Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi.
