Sikander Sultan Raja has been named as the new chief election commissioner after the government and opposition reached consensus on the matter. Nisar Durrani has been appointed as an ECP member from Sindh and Shah Mohammad Jatoi as Balochistan member.The names were decided during a meeting of the parliamentary committee on the appointment of the chief election commissioner on Tuesday. The notification has been issued by Shireen Mazari, who was the chairperson of the committee.
CNG stations across Sindh will reopen Tuesday at 10pm and will supply gas till 6am on Wednesday. According to a representative of the Sui Southern Gas Company a gas shortage has been reported in the fields too and due to low gas pressure there are difficulties in supply to domestic consumers. Sindh will get gas after 50 hours this time.
Censor boards in Sindh and Punjab have decided against the release of Sarmad Khoosat’s Zindagi Tamasha across the country. A statement issued by the Sindh Board of Censors claimed that if the film was released it would cause “unrest” within some segments of society and “may deteriorate and be detrimental to the peaceful circumstances in the country”.

A serious case of sugar shortage has emerged in Pakistan as the country stumbles amid a wheat crisis that has jacked up prices of roti. During the incumbent government’s 15 months, sugar prices shot up as high as Rs64 a kilo. However, over the past week, the wholesale rate rose from Rs64 to Rs74 per kg, due to which an acute shortage has surfaced in the country.

Consumption of low fat milk increases telomeres’ length that can help slow down the aging process and make one look younger, according to a research carried out by exercise scientists at Brigham Young University (BYU). The study examined the relationship between different variants of milk and telomeres and concluded that the shortening of telomeres is seen as a key biological marker of the aging process.
