She added that her son Archie had been denied the title of prince based upon how dark his skin might be.

US President Joe Biden has nominated a Pakistani-American, Dilawar Syed, to serve as the deputy administrator of the Small Business Administration (SBA). Confirming the news released by the White House, Dilawar  said he was “deeply humbled & honored” on the nomination, which is yet to be confirmed by the US Senate. Dilawar currently serves as the president and chief executive officer of Lumiata.

US think tank downgrades India’s status to “partly-free” from “free” country

India’s status as a free country has been downgraded to “partly-free” in a recently issued report by a US think tank, Freedom House. The report, titled “Freedom in the World 2021 – democracy under siege”, notes that Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s government and allies “encouraged the scapegoating of Muslims, who were disproportionately blamed for the spread of the virus and faced attacks by vigilante mobs”.

PSL 6 gets delayed after 7 Covid-19 cases reported in competition

The Pakistan Cricket Board announced that the Pakistan Super League (PSL) 6 has been delayed “with immediate effect” after seven people participating in the tournament tested positive for Covid-19. The PCB said the decision had been taken out of consideration for the health and wellbeing of all participants in the tournament. The decision was taken following a meeting with the team owners.

World’s first space hotel plans to open for business by 2027

Construction is due to begin on the world’s first ‘space hotel’ in low Earth orbit in 2025. The Voyager Station will come equipped with restaurants, a cinema, spa and rooms for 400 people and is expected to open for business by 2027. Developed by the Orbital Assembly Corporation (OAC), the station’s infrastructure will be built in orbit around the Earth.

Turkey and Pakistan to co-manufacture warplanes and missiles: report

Turkey is in talks to co-manufacture warplanes and missiles with Pakistan, a foreign media outlet claimed. Turkish defence and government officials have held periodic talks with Pakistani counterparts — the last high-level discussion was in January — about developing and manufacturing military hardware with Pakistan, according to people from both countries who are familiar with the negotiations. 

Pakistani skies to be seeing three new domestic airlines

Three new airlines have sought regulatory approval from Pakistan’s Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) to launch operations. The scrutiny of two airlines – Q-Airlines and Fly Jinnah – has been completed while Jet Green Airlines is still going through the process. Following the completion of scrutiny, the applications would be sent to Aviation Division and then to the federal cabinet for final approvals.
