Gujranwala teen sisters aim to win gold medal for Pakistan in weightlifting

Two teenage sisters from Gujranwala are aiming to represent Pakistan at the South Asian Games in weightlifting. Shafaq and her sister Khadija Dar were introduced to weightlifting by their father, Waheed Dar, who was Pakistan Army’s weightlifting coach. The father of the Olympian Talha Talib is coaching both athletes for national and international tournaments.

Khadija attributed their interest in weightlifting to their father’s involvement in the sport. According to the coach, the players are training hard for the South Asian Games that Pakistan will host in 2023. Khadija represents the Pakistan Army while Shafaq represents Wapda.
