The government of Pakistan has decided to provide motorcyclists and rickshaw owners with subsidized petrol after raising petrol prices to a record high. Moreover, the government is planning to give another round of stipends to the less privileged people under the Ehsaas program. This would help them purchase food items at comparatively lower prices.

The two decisions were made on Wednesday at a meeting of the ruling Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) core committee. Opposition parties launched a countrywide protest campaign against the government after the government hiked petrol price by Rs10.49 per liter on Oct 16.
