Ford Motor Company, the US-based automotive behemoth has come up with a novel idea to utilise coffee waste to make auto parts. The automaker will collaborate with the international fast-food chain McDonalds and process coffee beans as it can be transformed into a highly durable material that can be used in automobile parts.
According to Ford, the components derived from the waste meet the quality specifications needed to create the headlight mounting panel and other interior and exterior body parts. The parts produced by this method are 20% lighter and need 25% less energy in the moulding process.
