The Defense and Martyrs’ Day is observed today to remember and pay tribute to the martyrs and Ghazis, and to reaffirm the need to defend the country. This year’s Defense Day theme is “Our martyrs our pride, salute to all the relatives belonging to ghazis and Shaheeds. A special prayer is offered in every mosque after Fajr for the progress, prosperity of the nation.

1965 marked the date when Indian forces crossed the border to attack Pakistan. However, the nation was able to defeat the evil plans of the enemy. The day began with 31 gun salutes at the Federal Capital and 21 gun salutes at province capitals.
