Man who designed the Kaaba door passes away in Germany

Muneer Al Jundi, an engineer who designed the door of the Holy Kaaba, passed away in Stuttgart, Germany. Engineer Al Jundi also has the honour of having his name inscribed on the door of the Kaaba as a designer. Al Jundi designed the door of the Holy Kaaba by the order of King Khalid bin Abdul Aziz.

Hong Kong and India have decided to suspend flights from Britain after Australia said it had detected cases of the new fast-spreading coronavirus strain identified in the United Kingdom. Two travellers from the United Kingdom to Australia’s New South Wales state were found carrying the mutated variant of the virus that Britain has said could be up to 70% more infectious.

Saudi Arabia suspends all international commercial flights for a week

Saudi Arabia has suspended all international commercial flights for a renewable week except for the foreign flights already in the kingdom. The entry to the kingdom through land and sea ports will be also suspended for a renewable week. These measures come after the spread of a new strain of Covid-19 among a number of countries.

Mystery illness hits India: 1 dead, more than 300 people hospitalized

An unidentified illness has hospitalized more than 300 people in southeastern India, including one who has died. Patients in the city of Eluru, in the state of Andhra Pradesh, reported a range of symptoms including seizures, loss of consciousness and some nausea over the weekend. Some 168 of the patients have been discharged.  The cause of illness is not known so far.

A remote-controlled car race on the lunar surface is due to take place in 2021

A remotely-controlled car race will now be held on the Moon in 2021, reports New Atlas. Moon Mark, a multimedia and education content company in collaboration with Intuitive Machines, the global leader in commercial space and airborne systems are pulling in some extraordinary resources to plan the race. The two racecars will be partially designed by high school kids, and McLaren P1 designer Frank Stephenson.

An award winning author and Niqabi from America, Hafsah Faizal, has become the first woman with a veil to be featured in the Forbes 30 under 30 list. Hafsah’s novel “We hunt the flame” has won many awards and was featured as a New York Times best seller. Hafsah was listed in the Forbes Art and Style category of the year 2020.

Nike and Coca-Cola press Congress to alter legislation banning products made by Uyghur Muslims in China

Nike and Coca-Cola are lobbying Congress to weaken a bill that would ban imported goods made with forced labor in China’s Xinjiang region. The legislation, called the Uyghur Forced Labor Prevention Act, has become the target of multinational companies including Apple whose supply chains touch the far western Xinjiang region, as well as of business groups including the U.S. Chamber of Commerce.

British-Pakistani politician expelled from House of Lords over ‘sexual misconduct’

British-Pakistani member of House of Lords, Nazeer Ahmed has reportedly been expelled from the House over ‘sexual misconduct’. The Lords Conduct Committee on Tuesday published the report which recommended the expulsion of Lord Nazeer Ahmed for “failing to act on his personal honour” over sexual assault and exploitation. Lord Nazeer resigned after recommendation of the report came to the fore on November 14.
