Pakistani gamer Arslan Ash wins Esports Player of the Year award

The ESPN Esports awards for Best Player took place on Friday where Arslan Ash won the award in both the fan’s poll and ESPN’s choice. From becoming the first ever unified EVO champion to Pakistan’s first Red Bull athlete, the pro gamer has made quite the name for himself and garnered a following that can’t help but admire his journey and talent.

Pakistani athlete breaks Indian Guinness World Record

Irfan Mehsood, a martial arts athlete from Waziristan, Pakistan has made it to the Guinness Book of World Records after completing 48 one-leg elevated push ups in one minute while carrying a 60-pound backpack. He also broke the previous world record held by an Indian athlete with 34 reps in one minute. Guinness World Records has confirmed his entry via email. Its official website has also registered Irfan’s name as a new record holder.

World’s biggest cricket stadium to be built in India

The world´s biggest cricket stadium, with space for 110,000 spectators, is to be built in India and is likely to host its first international match early next year. The new stadium in Ahmedabad, built at a cost of around $100 million. The stadium will have more than 70 corporate boxes, four dressing rooms, a clubhouse and an Olympic-size swimming pool. 

Arwa Afridi wins 2 gold medals at World Alpagut Championship

Arwa Afridi of Pakistan Railways, with Fatima Fertilizer Company Limited’s support, has won 2 gold medals at the 2nd World Alpagut Championship. The martial arts tournament was held in Baku, Azerbaijan with 600 participants from 24 different countries of different categories. 9 fighters participated from Pakistan, including 2 female and 7 male athletes. Pakistan stood 4th in the overall ranking table.

International football star from Portugal writes a heartfelt Instagram note for footballer Karishma Ali

Fatima Pinto, international football star from Portugal, wrote a heartfelt post on Instagram for Pakistan’s first female footballer from Chitral, Karishma Ali. Pinto, in her post highlights the struggle Karishma and girls in Chitral had to go through in order to practice the sport, mentioning that some had to walk 4 hours just to reach the first day of camp.

Pakistan offers security for 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar

Pakistan has offered Qatar to provide security for the FIFA World Cup scheduled to be held by the Gulf state in 2022. President Arif Alvi made the offer and highlighted that there was a lot of scope in the field of defense exports and joint production ventures.  According to him Pakistan’s armed forces had a vast experience in the field of security and professionalism, and could provide security for the Football World Cup 2022. 

Generosity of Pakistani cricketers with Indian cab driver goes viral

Pakistani cricketers went viral worldwide for their generosity after sharing their dinner table with an Indian cab driver after he refused to accept the taxi fare from the players in Brisbane, Australia. The incident garnered a great deal of praises after it was narrated by ABC radio presenter Alison Mitchell, in which she narrated the story about the heartwarming gesture of Pakistani players to former Aussie pacer Mitchell Johnson.

Pakistani girl won an international figure skating tournament in Austria

Pakistani girl, Mallak Faisal Zafar who stepped into the world of figure skating at the age of 5, has now won her first international award in Austria. Mallak clinched the first position in the Basic Novice Girls II category at the 24th International Eiscup Innsbruck 2019 for her fine display during the 2-day event. Over 200 participants from different European countries competed at this Interclub  Singles Competition. 

Imad Ali becomes youngest ever junior World Scrabble Champion

Pakistan has won the World Junior Scrabble Championship 2019 in England. Young Imad Ali was the find of the tournament, who became the youngest junior world champion to have lifted the trophy at the age of 13.He maintained the first position in all three days of the competition by winning 17 out of 20 matches he played. Pakistan players maintained dominance in other ther age groups as well. 

PCB files lawsuit against major Indian firm for pulling out of PSL

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has filed damages claim against IMG Reliance, an Indian firm, which pulled out of a deal to broadcast Pakistan Super League (PSL) in India. IMG Reliance pulled out the deal because of deteriorating political ties between India and Pakistan after Pulwama attack. PCB then had to scramble for another broadcaster at last moment.
