Swimmer Kiran Khan secures 10 gold medals for Pakistan Army

Olympian swimmer Kiran Khan from Lahore has taken the ongoing National Games in Peshawar by storm by winning 10 gold medals for her team Army. She previously achieved a similar feat in the National Games of 2001 where she won 13 medals in total, which included 7 gold, 3 silver, and 3 bronze medals and now has a total of 47 international medals and 337 national gold medals to her name now.

Pakistani commando wins gold medal in international shooting event

Pakistani commando Arsalan Anwar hailing from Sindh, Pakistan has won gold medal  in the Asian International Defensive Pistol Association Cup (IDPA) competition held in Bangkok. More than 100 shooters from 10 Asian countries participated in the event but Arsalan beat them all by hitting 118 targets in 6.16 minutes in the final round of practical shooting. Furthermore, he also secured 3rd position in the international category. 

Muhammad Asif wins World Snooker Championship

Pakistani cueist Muhammad Asif won IBSF World Snooker Championship being played in Antalya, Turkey. Asif who also won World Snooker title in 2012 and became the first Pakistani 1994 to win the title defeated Philippine’s Jeffery Rod by 5-8 in final match of the event. He dedicated this win to the Pakistani nation and expressed joy on becoming the world champion.

India Pakistan Davis Cup tie in Islamabad moved to a neutral venue

International Tennis Federation’s independent security advisors have advised against playing India’s Davis Cup tie against Pakistan in Islamabad this month and suggested the tie must be played at a ‘neutral’ venue. The Asia/Oceania Group I tie, originally scheduled for September 14-15 in Islamabad, was postponed by the ITF to Nov 29-30 following a security review amid political tensions between the neighbours.

Ahmed Shehzad charged with ball tampering

Pakistan’s opening batsman Ahmed Shehzad has been charged with ball-tampering with an unidentifiable object during a match in Quaid-e-Azam Trophy. The incident took place during the first innings of Sindh against Central Punjab on Day 2 of the match. Field umpires noticed that the ball condition was altered during the initial overs of Sindh’s first-inning but they failed to identify how it happened.

Sri Lankan cricket team to visit Pakistan for test series

Sri Lankan cricket team that had to leave in a helicopter from Gaddafi Stadium Lahore following a horrifying terrorist attack will be visiting Pakistan this December for a 2-match Test series. Previously, senior players like Dimuth Karunaratne, Angelo Mathews, Dinesh Chandimal who refused to play in Pakistan, are now willing to visit the country. Pakistan .Lahore and Karachi are all set to host test matches after 10 years.

Babar Azam one century away from breaking Virat Kohli’s T20 record

Babar, who turns 25 on Tuesday, smashed yet another T20 century this year, entering into the list of elite cricketers, including Virat Kohli and Chris Gayle. Record for the most number of T20 centuries belong Virat Kohli as well as Chris Gayle with 4 centuries a year. Babar hammered 102 runs against Sindh in the National T20 Cup on Sunday, this is his third century of the year. 

Pakistan’s Rabia Shahzad wins gold medal in England

Pakistan’s Rabia Shahzad  won a gold medal for the country in the Hampshire Weightlifting Championship. Rabia Shahzad, aged 21, IBA student and younger sister of the badminton sensation Mahnoor Shahzad emerged undefeated with 144.9 Sinclair points in her category.  Earlier, she claimed the silver medal in the 49-kilogram female category in the Welsh Open Weightlifting Championships. Rabia beat eight other weightlifters in the competition.

Umar Akmal breaks Shahid Arfidi’s records

Umar Akmal made his comeback against Sri Lanka in the first T20I at Gaddafi Stadium only to be dismissed at the first ball. The captain Sarfaraz Ahmed and the chief Misbah-ul-Haq both decided to give Akmal another chance despite being missing from action in T20I for over three years. Akmal was dismissed on a duck 9th time breaking the previous record held by Shahid Afridi with 8 ducks. 

ODI cricket returns to Pakistan- Karachi to host Sri Lanka today
