Umar Akmal banned from PSL 2020

Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has suspended hard-hitting middle-order batsman, Umar Akmal, just before the start of Pakistan Super League (PSL) 2020. Umar was suspended for violating the players’ code of conduct during a fitness test at the National Cricket Academy (NCA), Lahore, earlier this month while inside sources say that he has been suspended under PCB’s anti-corruption code.

Pakistani weightlifter wins another gold at an international competition

Pakistani weightlifter, Rabia Shahzad has won gold at the Glasgow Open Classic Weightlifting Championship 2020. Rabia Shahzad, aged 21, studies at IBA Karachi and trains independently without depending on any sort of support from the Pakistan Weightlifting Federation. Last year, Rabia Shahzad, clinched the gold medal at the Hampshire Weightlifting Championship held in the United Kingdom.

President Alvi receives official request for Darren Sammy’s Pakistani citizenship

Peshawar Zalmi Chairman, Javed Afridi, has requested President, Arif Alvi, to grant Darren Sammy honorary citizenship of Pakistan. Javed did this in a formal request to the President, giving him the reason that Sammy was not only the first player to step ahead in bringing PSL to Pakistan, but he also loves the country from the core of his heart. 

Instagram influencer accuses Shadab of threatening her

An Instagram influencer has taken to social media to accuse Shadab Khan of threatening to leak her nudes. The influencer, Ashreena Safia, posted a message on Instagram along with several screenshots from various applications such as Instagram, Snapchat and WhatsApp. Safia has attached a few pictures of herself with Shadab, but the conversations seem to be missing context considering that some of the content has been blacked out by Safia.

Wasim Akram turns back the clock in bushfire relief match

Pakistan’s fast-bowling great Wasim Akram turned back the clock through a moment of brilliance with the ball, during the bushfire relief match in Melbourne, Australia. During the penultimate over of the Gilchrist XI innings, Akram, who was playing for the Ponting XI, clean bowled Rugby League legend Cameron Smith with a cleverly disguised inswinger.

Naseem Shah becomes the youngest bowler to take a test hat-trick

Pakistan bowler Naseem Shah lit up day three of their Test against Bangladesh in Rawalpindi when he became the youngest cricketer to claim a Test hat-trick at the age of 16. Naseem  who left the visitors reeling at 126-6, broke the record of compatriot Abdul Razzaq, who claimed a hat-trick at the age of 20 against Sri Lanka 

Bangladesh to arrive on Wednesday for first test in Rawalpindi

The Bangladesh cricket team will arrive on Wednesday for the first Test against Pakistan at the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium. The two sides will then practice at the ground over  the next two days before the game starts on February 7 .On Friday, the first session will be from 10am to 12:30pm with an extended lunch break from 12:30pm to 1:30pm. Pakistan team will be lead by Azhar Ali while Mominul Haque will lead the Bangladesh team. 

Swat girl wins gold in Dubai Taekwondo championship

Girl from Swat wins a gold medal in 34kg category at the 8th Fujairah Open Taekwondo Championship in Dubai, becoming the first Pakistani female to do so.  Ayesha Ayaz, a nine-year-old student of Class IV from Swat district of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, started practising the sport at the age of three.
She has already managed to earn honors of being a five-time district champion, two-time provincial champion and three-time national champion.

Pakistan to face India in U19 Cricket World Cup semi-final

Pakistan beat Afghanistan by six wickets in the U19 Cricket World Cup to secure a place in the semi-final and will now play against India. Pakistan’s bowlers put on a disciplined performance as they dismissed the Afghan side for just 189. Captain Farhan Zakhil was the top-scorer with 40 (55) with seven boundaries to his name while Muhammad Amir Khan was the pick of the bowlers as he returned with figures of 3-58 in 10 overs. 

BCCI refuses to play Asia Cup in Pakistan

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has asked for a neutral venue for the upcoming Asia Cup 2020, stating that India will not be playing in its neighboring country. The BCCI also made clear that it has no problem with Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) hosting the Asia Cup, but Indian team can not be part of the series in such a case.
